Northbloc is the latest addition to Fonterra’s Waikato workplace projects. We had the honour of leading the workplace strategy, brand integration and interior design for them in collaboration with ChowHill Architects and TBIG.

Central to the project was developing a cultural strategy alongside local iwi - Ngaati Wairere and the Maaori Strategy team at Fonterra to establish a strong narrative for the new offices. Across its three floors, the design incorporates natural elements inspired by key North Island regions: North Waikato, the West Coast, and Thames Coromandel. Each floor features its own carefully crafted pattern, colour palette and imagery, channeling each region's individual character.

On the ground floor, the North Waikato is proudly expressed through a mixed media installation modelled from artwork gifted to Fonterra by Ngaati Wairere. Every stroke down to the tiniest detail tells the story of the mighty Awa. It was one of our most intricately designed feature walls to date, and we’re very proud of the result.
