Wild Canvas is a premium glamping destination in the heart of the North Island. We were tasked with designing the interiors for their new four-bedroom tent, creating a luxurious space for families and groups while maintaining the utilitarian ‘tenty’ feel of camping.
Now completed and in use, the Pohutukawa tent is a stunning space that takes full advantage of its incredible surroundings and offers a truly unique getaway experience.
Inspired by the textures and tones of our exquisite New Zealand landscape, the material palette features rich timbers, rugged rock and hand-crafted tiles paired with natural linens and woven fibres. Every space in the Pohutukawa tent opens to the picturesque scenery outside through large double-glazed windows and doors.
Like a classic family camping setup, the Pohutukawa tent is oriented around the common areas where people come together, including a striking feature fireplace which replicates the tradition of gathering around the campfire.
Brass fittings, detailed mosaic tiling and bespoke joinery heighten the tent’s sense of luxury, with underfloor heating and full amenities ensuring every creature comfort is fulfilled. It’s a meticulous balance of luxurious and outdoorsy aesthetics.
The Pohutukawa tent has quickly become the most popular accommodation offered by Wild Canvas and is now fully booked months in advance.
